The Los Angeles Rams are set to enter the 2026 season with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams as their leading wide receivers, but they could still stand to improve the position before Week 1.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Rams could emerge as a potential landing spot for top free-agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs:
But any realistic talk about his return, to me, hinges on whether the Brown trade happens. Assuming Brown does become a Patriot, I think Diggs will probably be somewhere in that one-year, $10 million range. The Chiefs could make sense. The Commanders might, too, since Diggs is from D.C. The Falcons and Rams would also be interesting landing spots.
It makes sense why the Rams would be interested in Diggs as they currently lack a true third wide receiver. Behind Nacua and Adams on the depth chart are mostly unproven players such as Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield, Xavier Smith and CJ Daniels.
While either of those players could take a leap next season, the Rams would probably feel more comfortable adding an established wide receiver like Diggs to their win-now roster.
The four-time Pro Bowler is coming off a bounce-back season with the New England Patriots that saw him record 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games.
Diggs, now 32 years old, has the ability to play outside and in the slot, so he would open up a lot of possibilities for the Rams.
Now that he has been cleared of any potential legal trouble, interest in Diggs should only increase between now and the start of the regular season.
He should have plenty of suitors, so the Rams will not only need to meet his price, but offer him a role that he can get behind.
Sean McVay reacts to Rams’ grueling 2026 schedule
The Rams have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL next season as they are traveling the second-most miles, thanks in part to beginning the year against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia.
They also have tied a league-record with seven primetime games, including their first three, the night before Thanksgiving, and Christmas night.
This schedule will certainly present some challenges to the Rams, and head coach Sean McVay discussed how they will navigate that.
“I think you gotta earn it. You and I both know, this league is so humbling. You obviously look at it, but it’s the coaching cliche, but it’s the truth. It’s one week at a time, try to be totally present,” McVay told SportsCenter. “We’re gonna use every day in the meantime to get ready to peak going into that Niners game. But it’s a great challenge. Everybody, this is all fun, but every single year is a great challenge in this league. We’re excited to be able to get the opportunity to be able to play in some of those games you mentioned.”
