The Texas Rangers farm system has announced promotion. According to a report from Francys Romero, outfield prospect Marco Argudin is on the move, earning a promotion from the Arizona Complex League (ACL) to the Single-A Hickory Crawdads.
The 20-year-old outfielder from Cuba earned the move after putting up a dominant batting line against complex league pitching. Standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 170 pounds, the left-handed hitting and left-handed throwing outfielder posted a fantastic .359/.481/.547/1.028 slash line with one home run, 11 RBIs, and two stolen bases slash line over his 19-game stint in the ACL.
Though he is not currently listed among the Texas Rangers’ top 30 prospects on MLB Pipeline, Argudin’s performance makes him an incredibly intriguing sleeper in the system. For fans looking for a developmental comparison, his profile draws exciting parallels to big-league star Luis Arraez. He won’t overpower opponents with raw over-the-fence power, but his pure bat-to-ball skills and elite control of the strike zone make him difficult to strike out. In an environment like complex ball where young hitters often struggle with pitch recognition, Argudin displayed a pristine eye, walking 14 times while striking out just 13 times.
That elite approach has been the defining characteristic of his professional career. Signed by the Rangers as an international free agent on February 21, 2025, Argudin put the organization on notice during his debut season with the DSL Rangers Red. Across 32 games in the Dominican Summer League, he slashed .397/.497/.587 with a massive 1.083 OPS, 28 RBIs, 21 walks, and a mere 12 strikeouts.
Through 185 career minor league at-bats across his two professional seasons, the Cuban outfielder has accumulated 3 home runs, 39 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases. Proving his discipline is no fluke, he has 35 career walks against just 25 strikeouts.
With his pure contact skills, left-handed line-drive approach, and premium plate discipline heading to the South Atlantic League, Argudin represents another fast-rising bat to track closely in the lower levels of the Rangers system.
