RATINGS | Borussia Dortmund 3-2 Eintracht Frankfurt – Samuele Inacio’s maiden secures BVB second place

Borussia Dortmund secured second place after coming from behind to secure a vital 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday night.

Borussia Dortmund come from behind

Can Uzun fired Albert Riera’s side into the lead after just two minutes with a superb curling effort into the bottom corner. Minutes later, Michael Zetterer was then called into action to deny Dortmund’s Italian prodigy, Samuele Inacio, who ghosted into the Frankfurt box unmarked, but fired his header straight at Eintracht’s custodian.

Farès Chaïbi and Ritsu Dōan both looked to double Eintracht’s lead, but Serhou Guirassy’s 16th strike of the season brought BVB level. Julian Ryerson contributed his 14th assist of 2025/26 with a pinpoint cross into the path of the Guinean, who got ahead of Robin Koch to fire home.

Nico Schlotterbeck then gave Dortmund the lead in the second minute of stoppage-time of the first half with a wonderful strike, placing the ball inside at the far post.

Ryerson then spurned an excellent opportunity to give Die Schwarzgelben a two-goal cushion, firing his effort straight at Zetterer from 10 yards. Uzun then forced Gregor Kobel into an excellent save, getting down low to deny the Turkey international.

Samuele Inacio then dealt Frankfurt the knockout blow, again ghosting into the six-yard box unmarked, this time volleying home Maximilian Beier’s cross to secure Niko Kovač’s charged second place ahead of RB Leipzig despite Jonathan Burkardt’s late strike.
