Rhea Ripley wasn’t about to let an AI-generated image of herself pass as the real thing, as she immediately called out a fan for sharing that image.
The WWE Women’s Champion spotted a fan tweet on Twitter that claimed to show a brand-new render of Ripley wearing fresh ring gear while holding her championship. The fan account was clearly impressed with the image and shared it with followers: “A new render! And it’s f****** amazing.”
The image showed Ripley in red gear with the title around her shoulder, but fans quickly noticed several details that looked off. Her eye color appeared different, and some of her tattoos — including her recognizable planchette tattoo — did not match her actual appearance. Ripley herself then stepped in to set the record straight as she made it clear she never took photos in that gear.
“I never took photos in this gear 🙃”
Not long after Ripley’s reply, the fan who originally posted the image deleted the tweet and admitted the picture had been generated using AI. The account then posted a screenshot of the original tweet along with an apology:
“I must apologise. I f***** up folks. It’s AI. I’ve deleted the tweet.”
So at the end of the day, this entire situation shows how quickly AI-generated wrestling images can spread online, especially when they look close enough to fool some fans if they’re not looking hard enough. Thankfully, Ripley made sure to shut the whole thing down before it became a bigger deal.
Do you think fan-made AI wrestling images are harmless fun, or should accounts clearly label them before posting? Let us know your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
