Ric Flair Issues Legal Threat To His Son Over Alleged Use Of His “Flair” Trademark

WWE Hall of Famer “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair recently used his official Twitter (X) account to issue a legal warning to an individual he claims has been infringing on his trademark concerning the name “Flair.” Flair specified that this person is someone he knows well and has been using his trademarked last name, presumed to be his son and then later confirmed as such.

In a series of tweets that are now deleted, Ric Flair wrote, “Unfortunately, There Is Someone That I’m Very Familiar With Using My Own Trademark FLAIR. I Would Like Anyone Who Is Using My Trademarks- Which Are Impossible To Own And I Own Mine, To Know That I’m Well Represented By A Reputable $1000 Per Hour Attorney That Makes A Living Suing People That Abuse My Trademark. You Know Who I’m Talking About. I Hope You Can Clear This Up By Monday, And If We Can’t Resolve This Issue, Read The Penalties.”

Flair then added a second post that reads, “The Relationship Was Gone 9 Years Ago… I’m Sorry & Sad That It Has Come To This. I’ve Tried My Best To Fix Things Over The Years Only To Be Rejected Because Your Wife Runs Your Life.”

While Flair did not explicitly identify the person he is discussing in his first two tweets, “Green Flair” is the name of a recycling company associated with what appears to be his son, David Fliehr’s LinkedIn profile. The profile describes him as a “Management Team Member” and states that he is based in Shelby, North Carolina, where Flair resides.

He then posted a third time confirming the person he was referring to is David but stated that he wasn’t planning on suing him but rather that his tweets were intended as a warning: “I’m Obviously Not Suing My Son. Just Reminding Him That You Can’t Have The Best Of Both Worlds! Use Your God Given Name, Fliehr, Which Isn’t Worth A Cup Of Coffee. Or Your Wife’s Name, Who Has Had 3 Generations Of Success. Also, Please Don’t Sell My Robes That I Let You Use…”

Fliehr had a stint in WCW from the late 1990s until 2001 and has been married to Robin Haskell since 2004. It is important to note that it has not been confirmed that Flair is referring to David. The WWE Hall of Famer has not commented further on the matter.
