Riot Removes Cypher From Valorant After Game-Breaking Bug Surfaces

Riot Games has officially removed Cypher from all game modes in Valorant after a game-breaking bug involving his Spycam surfaced on social media forums.

The bug in question enables Cypher to turn his Spycam into a hidden killing machine by equipping it with any pistol. To trigger it, Cypher can throw his pistol into the Spycam, switch to the camera’s perspective, press 2 to equip the pistol on his camera, and then open fire on unsuspecting enemies.

This bug isn’t exactly a new one either, and was present in Valorant at the time of its closed beta before being patched out at the time of its global release. The bug has resurfaced in Valorant once again following the latest 12.10 patch, which introduced the ability to watch friends’ replays alongside other changes.

Riot Temporarily Disables Cypher From Valorant Queues

Shortly after the bug surfaced online, the Valorant devs confirmed that they are disabling Cypher from all queues to work on this issue.

“Not this s**t again,” Riot dev Penguin said on X. “We’re on it, Cypher’s been disabled for now.”

At the time of writing, Cypher has already been disabled from Valorant and cannot be played in Competitive, Unrated, or any other official queues.

When is Cypher Returning to Valorant?

Unfortunately, Riot Games hasn’t provided an exact date for Cypher’s return to Valorant as of yet.

However, the devs have stated that a fix is actively being worked on, suggesting the Agent could return within the current patch cycle.

In the meantime, players will have to make do without one of Valorant’s more popular Sentinels.
