This is the last year of the Rocket Classic in Detroit.
Rocket Mortgage has declined to renew its sponsorship for 2027, bringing the Rocket Classic to an end after this year’s edition.
The tournament has been played since 2019 at Detroit Golf Club.
For 2026, the Rocket Classic will be played Thursday, July 30, through Sunday, Aug. 2.
I will be sorry to see the PGA TOUR withdraw from a golf-mad state like Michigan, but will note a continuing strong LPGA presence. Indeed, the LPGA and its Triple A Epson Tour have their own “Michigan Swings.”
The LPGA plays the Dow Championship June 11 – 14 in Midland, followed by the Meijer LPGA Classic in Belmont, near Grand Rapids June 18 – 21.
Meanwhile the Epson Tour plays three back-to-back-to-back Michigan tournaments: The Firekeepers in Battle Creek June 12 – 14; the Great Lakes Championship June 19 – 21 in Harbor Springs; and the Island Resort Championship in the Upper Peninsula June 25 – 28.
That’s five professional women’s tournaments in Michigan in the month of June.
Michigan also retains a Champions Tour event: the Ally Challenge, which is played in Grand Blanc on August 28 – 30.
