A new report has connected the Houston Rockets to a potential pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo if the franchise were to make Alperen Sengun available in trade discussions.
William Guillory of The Athletic outlined that Sengun could become a central name in hypothetical superstar trade frameworks, with Giannis Antetokounmpo among the players linked to Houston in such scenarios.
The report also referenced other high-level names, including Kawhi Leonard and Donovan Mitchell, as possible targets if Houston decides to explore the market using its core assets and draft capital.
Sengun, 23, is coming off a strong regular season with 20.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game on 51.9% shooting. He is in the first year of a five-year, $185 million contract that includes a player option in the final season.
In the postseason, his production has dipped in efficiency against the Los Angeles Lakers, with Houston trailing 0–2 in the first-round series while managing defensive pressure and limited spacing in half-court possessions.
Antetokounmpo, 31, remains under a three-year, $175 million deal with a player option on the final season. He averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in the regular season while maintaining elite efficiency at 62.4% from the field.
Milwaukee finished 32–50 and missed the postseason, intensifying ongoing speculation around long-term roster direction after a difficult campaign.
From a roster construction standpoint, Houston holds multiple future first-round picks alongside young rotation pieces such as Amen Thompson and Jabari Smith Jr., creating the type of flexibility typically required in superstar-level trade negotiations.
The Rockets also feature Kevin Durant, who led the team with 26.0 points per game, adding another layer to any theoretical reshaping of the roster if a franchise-altering move were considered.
League-wide, teams in similar positions often evaluate whether to consolidate emerging talent into a single MVP-level player when a proven superstar becomes available on the market.
