Rohit Sharma takes dig at Virat Kohli’s slump in form? “When seniors aren’t scoring…”

Apart from Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant, none of the Indian batters could score big against New Zealand in the third and final Test of the series at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. The biggest disappointment of all was the performance from star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

This was a series that both Rohit and Virat would want to forget as both of them couldn’t even cross a total of 100 runs in the 6 innings where they batted.

At the post-match press conference, India captain Rohit was bound to face some tough questions, especially regarding his and Virat’s form. Rohit didn’t back down and admitted that seniors not scoring is a big concern indeed.

“It is a concern when seniors aren’t scoring runs. But what’s done is done. As a player, as a captain, as the team, we all have to look forward and see how we can correct what we didn’t manage to achieve here. We have an opportunity to do something special in Australia. We’ll focus on that now,” Rohit said.

In an innings where the Indian batters needed to bat with a calculated approach in order to achieve the target of 147, Rohit got dismissed while trying to play his signature pull shot to pacer Matt Henry. The ball ended up straight in the hands of Glenn Phillips as the Indian skipper headed back to the dugout after scoring just 11 runs.

Kohli on the other hand, departed after scoring just a run after he failed to reach the pitch of a floated delivery from left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel which took the edge of his bat to the first slip.
