Conor Benn is seemingly Ryan Garcia’s next opponent.

Benn is the number one rated contender to Garcia’s WBC welterweight world title and remained on course for a maiden world title shot with a unanimous decision win over Regis Prograis on Saturday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Garcia has previously stated he’d be willing to come to the UK to face the Brit, but now claims the bout will land in Las Vegas in August.

“It’s gonna be in August,” the 27-year-old said on a live stream on Wednesday.

“Mark my words his corner or the ref stops my fight with Connor in the 6-7 rounds.”

The Californian became champion in February, dropping Mario Barrios on route to a unanimous decision victory in Las Vegas.

Benn, who was ringside for Garcia’s win over Barrios, called out his rival following his victory over Prograis, who retired following the defeat.

“Garcia I want my belt,” the 29-year-old said.

“Keep my belt warm.

“September. Let’s go. Any day of the week.

“Garcia you’re next.”

Benn’s bout with Prograis was his first since leaving Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing for Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing one a one-fight deal reportedly worth $15m.

Hearn, who watched the bout from ringside, insists he won’t be looking to resign ‘The Destroyer’, despite him being a free agent.

“As I understand it I can [offer him a deal],” Hearn told media including Pro Boxing Fans on Tuesday.

“I believe it would be a complete waste of time and I certainly won’t be.”
