South Africa A’s response also began shakily as Mitch Stanley and Eddie Jack tore through the top order. Tony de Zorzi, Jordan Hermann, Zubayr Hamza, and Jason Smith all fell cheaply as the visitors slipped to 54/5.

However, captain Marques Ackerman completely changed the course of the match with a magnificent counterattacking innings.

Stanley and Jack both claimed three wickets for England Lions, while Dan Mousley picked up two wickets late in the innings.

Paterson, Mokoena, and Ottneil Baartman each claimed two wickets, while Baartman removed Mayes shortly after the centurion brought up his hundred.

Set 214 for victory, South Africa A lost Tony de Zorzi early after he was caught behind off Stanley for seven.

Lesego Senokwane and Jordan Hermann then steadied the innings with a composed partnership that ensured the chase never drifted out of control. Senokwane struck a patient 55 off 115 deliveries before Eddie Jack finally broke the stand.
