Sean Strickland jumped into a wrestling ring at UFC Freedom 250 Fanfest, and it did not take long before police got involved.
Strickland posted video of himself entering the ring before being escorted out by officers. He later filmed himself from the back of a police van and claimed he may have been hit with disorderly conduct. Strickland said he was not even sure what the charge meant, but he still thanked fans for backing him after the mess.
“Right, guys. I may have been charged with disorderly conduct. I don’t know what that is, but it sounds cool. Anyways, I just want to thank you fans, man. I. I can’t thank you guys enough. After being banned, you guys writing, supporting me. It means a lot to me. Thank you.”
It is still unclear exactly why Strickland was removed from the event. He claimed he did not break any laws, but the scene still ended with him getting walked out by police after the wrestling ring stunt.
Strickland is no stranger to controversy. He has taken heat in the past for anti-LGBTQ comments and derogatory remarks about women and women’s sports, but there is no confirmation those past comments played any role in what happened here.
Strickland is currently the UFC Middleweight Champion after defeating Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 328 in May. Now he has another headline on his hands, and this one has nothing to do with defending the belt.
For now, Strickland says he may have been charged, but more details are still needed. Either way, jumping into a wrestling ring at UFC Freedom 250 Fanfest ended with police escorting him out.
