Joshua Sai has been appointed Welfare Manager of Ghana’s U17 male team, taking up the role ahead of a busy period for the youth side.
Sai, who is General Manager of Semper Fi FC, has spent the past five years overseeing the club’s steady rise from youth level into the Access Bank Division One League. The club currently sit second in Zone Three and have remained competitive since gaining promotion, finishing second in their debut season and continuing to challenge for the title in subsequent campaigns.
He is expected to bring that experience into his new position, working closely with the technical team to support player welfare during training camps and competitions, as Ghana intensify preparations for upcoming assignments.
His first major task will be at the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Senegal, South Africa and Algeria. Ghana will open their campaign against Algeria on 14 May, before facing Senegal on 17 May and South Africa on 20 May.
As part of their preparations, the team has travelled to Ivory Coast for a friendly match, with the aim of fine-tuning the squad ahead of the tournament. Ghana are returning to the competition after a nine-year absence and will be looking to make an impact on their return.
