In regards to the opening Test against Bangladesh, former Pakistani fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed expressed his disappointment with the performance of current pace bowlers, including Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah and Khurram Shahzad. The two-match Test series is being played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where the pitch offers good pace and bounce. Hence, Pakistan’s captain, Shan Masood opted for all-pace bowlers for these conditions.

The pitch at Rawalpindi presented challenging outcomes for bowlers, and offered little assistance. Since the pitch was unpredictable, pace bowlers Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Khurram Shahzad, and Mohammad Ali struggled to give a tough competition to Bangladeshi batsmen. Tanvir Ahmed went on to social media and expressed his frustration with the performance of Pakistani pacers. Tanvir compared their bowling to that of a 35-year-old bowler in a sarcastic way, and highlighted the lack of impact they had in the Test match.

Naseem Shah 21 years old. Shaheen Afridi 24 years old. Khurram Shazhad 24 years old.

Aesa lagta ha 35 years kay fast bowler’s lag rahe hain. (They look like 35-year-old pacers).

Tanvir further shared a statistic, which compared performance of pace bowlers in home Tests in the last three years. This statistic revealed that Pakistan had the lowest performance in pace attack during this year.
