The family of Sycho Sid Vicious is hoping to take their humble beginnings in West Memphis, Arkansas, to Memphis, Tennessee. Sid Vicious’ son, Gunnar Eudy, took to social media to say that he put in an offer to purchase the Mid-South Coliseum! These are big moves for the second-generation pro wrestling hopeful. Just weeks after his father got enshrined into the WWE Hall of Fame, Gunnar Eudy is taking his perceived disrespect of his father from WWE and channeling it into a new wrestling promotion. Here’s everything you need to know about the potential purchase of the Mid-South Coliseum for The Wrestling Order (TWO) promotion.
Gunnar Eudy Offers to Purchase the Mid-South Coliseum
The Mid-South Coliseum on 996 Early Maxwell Boulevard in Memphis, Tennessee, holds many memories for wrestling fans. This building served as a backdrop for some of the most classic matches between The Midnight Express and Rock N Roll Express, gave Hall of Famers like Ted DiBiase and Shawn Michaels a space to hone their craft, and served as the home to Mid-South Wrestling and USWA.
The Mid-South Coliseum officially closed its doors in 2006. It’s remained vacant since, used occasionally for storage. Today, it stands in disrepair and is considered for demolition. There have been attempts to rehabilitate the iconic Coliseum to be an entertainment venue once again. However, all bids have fallen through over the past couple of decades.
However, Sid Vicious’ son stepped in, in an attempt to save the historic site:
“Well it’s official.
I just put in an offer on the Mid-South Coliseum with hopes of making it the permanent home for TWO, The Wrestling Order.
It’s going to need a lot of renovations and work but it will be 100% worth it.
This is a dream I’ve had for a long time. Memphis wrestling history belongs here.”
Gunnar’s father wrestled many times in the Mid-South Coliseum. In fact, he was the World Champion for Jerry The King Lawler’s USWA promotion. One of Sid’s final matches in the Coliseum was defending the Championship against his future WrestleMania Main Event opponent, The Undertaker.
Gunnar Eudy to Continue His Father’s Legacy
Wrestling can become a family business. From The Rhodes’ to The Harts to The Bloodline, when wrestling is in your blood, it’s hard to shake. Even the likes of Carmella are having a hard time shaking the wrestling bug!
The next generation of nepo-wrestlers is coming up. With Bron Breakker breaking out from the Steiner pack, everyone from Tatanka’s sons to Sting’s son and daughter-in-law has gotten into the business!
With Sid Vicious recently entering the WWE Hall of Fame’s Legacy Wing, a new generation of Sycho ones might be on the horizon. In honor of his father, the massive Gunnar Eudy donned his father’s old Jason Vorhees mask to reprise The Master and The Ruler of the World’s Lord Humongous persona.
Sycho Sid’s Son Managed by Harvey Wippleman During WrestleMania 42 Week
During WrestleMania week, Lord Humongous teamed up with Memphis Wrestling legend Doug Gilbert. The pair was managed by Downtown Bruno, aka Harvey Wippleman.
This WrestleMania weekend was a full-circle moment for the former WWE manager. Harvey Wipplemen used to manage Sid during his first WWE run. In fact, the former Downtown Bruno accompanied Sid Justice in the Main Event of WrestleMania IX to face The Immortal Hulk Hogan.
While Sid didn’t get a proper Hall of Fame induction, Hulk Hogan’s son was on hand. Nick Hogan was there to accept his father’s third induction. Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant were enshrined for their historic WrestleMania III encounter.
