Sol Ruca’s WWE RAW debut may have sparked criticism online after her awkward first attempt at the Sol Snatcher on Becky Lynch, but behind the scenes, WWE management clearly viewed things very differently.
While speaking on The Ringer Wrestling Show, Ruca addressed the negative comments she received after her May 4 RAW debut segment with Becky Lynch. Ruca admitted that social media can be difficult, especially when one bad comment can outweigh a wave of positive reactions.
“Yeah, I mean, social media is tough—especially with trolls and people hating. I feel like a lot of us just want to know what people think. We want to know if people liked our matches, if they’re invested and whatnot.”
Ruca explained that even when performers see a lot of support, one harsh reaction can still hit hard and make them second-guess themselves.
“But I feel like it doesn’t matter how many good comments we see—if we see one bad one that strikes a nerve, we’re just like, ‘Oh my God, I’m the worst. I did terribly.’”
She said dealing with that side of social media is something wrestlers have to keep working through, rather than something that simply goes away.
“It’s something you just have to learn to work through, and I think it’s going to be an ongoing thing. I don’t think any of us are ever going to completely get over that.”
Ruca then revealed that Triple H called her after her debut with Lynch to reassure her. Despite Ruca not being fully happy with how everything turned out, he told her WWE was pleased with her performance.
“But I did have Triple H call me after my debut with Becky Lynch and the promo and stuff, and he was like, ‘I just want you to know—you did a great job.’”
Ruca admitted she planned to stay away from social media because she wasn’t completely satisfied with the segment, but Triple H pushed back on that concern and told her not to worry about online reaction.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m just going to stay off social media—not 100% happy with how it turned out.’ But he was like, ‘Honestly, we think you did amazing. Don’t worry about it. Don’t go on social media.’”
According to Ruca, that call gave her the reassurance she needed after a debut that put her directly opposite one of WWE’s biggest stars.
“He really gave me that reassurance—like, ‘You’re fine. Don’t care what people say. We think you did amazing. Just keep doing what you’re doing.’”
Ruca made her RAW debut on the May 4 episode, where Adam Pearce introduced her to the WWE Universe and handed her a RAW contract. Becky Lynch interrupted the signing, leading to a tense exchange where Ruca told Lynch not everything was about her before hitting the Sol Snatcher. The moment drew criticism online after she completely botched the Sol Snatcher and had to redo it.
Still, Triple H’s call shows WWE was backing Ruca behind the scenes after the segment. For a newcomer debuting on the flagship show against Becky Lynch, that kind of support likely meant a lot as she adjusted to the pressure of the main roster.
