Specials – India’s milestone ODIs – The Cricket Cauldron

India are playing their 1000th men’s ODI against the West Indies at Ahmedabad today, thus becoming the first team to reach the landmark. On that note, here is a look back at how India have fared in their milestone men’s ODIs over the years.

1st ODI v England, Headingley, 1974

Match Scores (second ODI of a two-match series, 55 overs): India 265 in 53.5 overs (Brijesh Patel 82, Ajit Wadekar 67, Chris Old 3/43) lost to England 266/6 in 51.1 overs (John Edrich 90, Eknath Solkar 2/31) by four wickets.

100th ODI v Australia, Srinagar, 1986-87

Match Scores (second ODI of a six-match series, reduced to 47 overs): India 222/8 (Sunil Gavaskar 52, Bruce Reid 2/37) lost to Australia 226/7 in 46 overs (Allan Border 90*, Roger Binny 2/25) by three wickets.

200th ODI v Australia, Sydney, 1991-92

Match Scores (second final of Benson and Hedges World Series): Australia 208/9 (Geoff Marsh 78, Manoj Prabhakar 3/31, Venkatapathy Raju 3/32) beat India 202/7 (Sachin Tendulkar 69, Ravi Shastri 61, Craig McDermott 2/37) by six runs.

300th ODI v South Africa, Rajkot, 1996-97

Match Scores (Titan Cup tri-series): India 185 in 48.1 overs (Javagal Srinath 53, Allan Donald 3/31) lost to South Africa 188/5 in 48.4 overs (Jonty Rhodes 54, Sunil Joshi 2/32) by five wickets.

400th ODI v Kenya, Bristol, 1999

Match Scores (World Cup group stage): India 329/2 (Sachin Tendulkar 140*, Rahul Dravid 104*, Martin Suji 1/26) beat Kenya 235/7 (Steve Tikolo 58, Kennedy Otieno 56, Debashish Mohanty 4/56) by 94 runs.

600th ODI v Sri Lanka, Rajkot, 2005-06

Match Scores (sixth ODI of a seven-match series): Sri Lanka 196 in 42.5 overs (Tillakaratne Dilshan 59, Rudra Pratap Singh 4/35) lost to India 197/3 in 34.5 overs (Yuvraj Singh 79*, Dilhara Fernando 2/58) by seven wickets.

700th ODI v England, Bangalore, 2008-09

Match Scores (fourth ODI of a five-match series, reduced to 22 overs): India 166/4 (Virender Sehwag 69, Graeme Swann 2/21) beat England 178/8 (Owais Shah 72, Zaheer Khan 2/20) by 19 runs (D/L).

800th ODI v Australia, Sydney, 2011-12
