Sri Lanka’s pacing prodigies ruled out of ODI series against India

The Indian cricket team is now in Sri Lanka for India’s tour of Sri Lanka series. The series has 3 T20I matches and 3 ODI matches. Two of the 3 T20I matches have ended with India securing victory in both games. With India winning the T20I series 3-0 after a thrilling third fixture, the men in blue are turning towards the ODI series. However, SLC faces a major setback as Sri Lanka’s pacing prodigies ruled out of ODI series against India.

In the T20I series, India won 3-0. The first match of the tournament witnessed team India winning the match by 43 runs. The second match too, was a single sided win, with India defeating the hosts by 7 wickets by the DLS method. In the third match, India won the match in the Super Over.

These Sri Lanka pacers will not play the ODI series against India

Sri Lanka is facing a major blow with the news that pacemen Matheesha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka will be sidelined for the ODI series. The ODI series is against India and it starts on August 3.

Pathirana is struggling with shoulder pain. On the other hand, Madushanka is dealing with a hamstring injury. The severity of Madushanka’s condition makes his participation in the series highly improbable. This development is a significant setback for the Sri Lankan team as they prepare for the upcoming matches.

Sri Lanka will also be without pacers Dushmantha Chameera, who is out due to illness, and Nuwan Thushara, who has a fractured thumb. These additional absences further strain Sri Lanka’s bowling attack ahead of their ODI series against India.

In the meantime, Kusal Janith, Pramod Madushan and Jeffrey Vandersay are added to the squad as standbys.
