A member of the North Carolina A&T football team was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident Saturday evening on Interstate 40, authorities confirmed.
Kelvin Broadhurst Jr., 20, died at the scene after losing control of his Ducati motorcycle while traveling eastbound on I-40 in Greensboro. According to the Greensboro Police Department, the crash occurred around 4:57 p.m. as Broadhurst attempted to take the ramp onto U.S. 29 South.
Police say Broadhurst veered to the left, causing the motorcycle to leave the roadway and collide with a guardrail. He was thrown from the bike upon impact. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
North Carolina A&T State University confirmed Broadhurst’s death on Sunday, noting that he was an active member of the Aggies football team. A defensive lineman, Broadhurst appeared in 28 games during his collegiate career, recording 13 total tackles and 1.5 sacks.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
