Stats Review of player records and achieved milestones

Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their dominant run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with a commanding 89-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 66 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, May 21.

After being asked to bat first, GT produced a batting masterclass and posted a massive total of 229/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan once again starred at the top of the order with a brilliant 84 off 53 deliveries, laced with seven fours and four sixes. Captain Shubman Gill provided an explosive start with 64 off just 37 balls, while Jos Buttler delivered a sensational unbeaten 57 off 27 balls to give the innings a strong finish. Washington Sundar also chipped in with a quick cameo of 7 off three deliveries.

The Titans’ top order dominated the CSK bowling attack throughout the innings, stitching together crucial partnerships and maintaining a high scoring rate. For Chennai, Mukesh Choudhary, Spencer Johnson, and Anshul Kamboj picked up a wicket each, but the visitors struggled to contain GT’s aggressive batting lineup.

In response, CSK endured a disastrous start and were bowled out for 140 in just 13.4 overs. Mohammed Siraj struck early blows, removing Sanju Samson for a golden duck and dismissing skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad soon after to put GT firmly in control. Matthew Short tried to counterattack with 24 off 14 balls, while Shivam Dube provided some resistance with a blistering 47 off 17 deliveries. Anshul Kamboj also contributed with a quick 19, but the chase quickly unravelled under relentless pressure from the Titans’ bowling attack.

GT’s bowlers were clinical from the outset, with Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Rashid Khan claiming three wickets each. Rabada wrapped up the innings in style, while Rashid’s double strike in the middle overs crushed any hopes of a CSK comeback.
