The Steelers have parted ways with senior assistant special teams coach Derius Swinton II due to a violation of team policy, a team source confirmed to The Athletic on Friday. It is not known which team policy Swinton is said to have violated.
Swinton, 41, was hired by new Pittsburgh head coach Mike McCarthy in February. Before joining the Steelers, Swinton served as an assistant with the Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Chargers and, most recently, the Las Vegas Raiders. He was named Las Vegas’ interim special teams coordinator following Week 10 of the 2025 season but was not retained by new Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak.
