Stuttgart and ‘s-Hertogenbosch tennis previews and predictions

With the French Open in the rearview mirror, there is no time to waste getting the grass-court swing underway. Competition on the green stuff begins on Monday in Stuttgart and ‘s-Hertogenbosch, with both events boasting impressive player fields. Among those taking the court this week are Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, Alexander Bublik, Frances Tiafoe, Nick Kyrgios, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alex de Minaur, and Daniil Medvedev.

Let’s take a look at the pair of upcoming ATP 250 tournaments.

BOSS Open

Where: Stuttgart, Germany
Surface: Grass
Prize money: 757,320 Euros
Points: 250

Top seed: Ben Shelton
Defending champion: Taylor Fritz

Draw analysis: Stuttgart is sure to deliver plenty of entertainment right from the start, as Kyrgios is going up against Corentin Moutet in the first round. Kyrgios is entering a tournament for the first time since Brisbane in early January, and he has played only seven matches since the end of 2022. Fireworks with Moutet can be expected given that the Frenchman is a similarly combustible character. The top half of the Stuttgart draw is also home to Shelton, Tiafoe, and Jiri Lehecka. Shelton, the No. 1 seed, could face either Kyrgios or Moutet in the quarterfinals.

At the bottom of the bracket, Fritz hopes that improved health will allow him to rack up more grass-court success. The ninth-ranked American has been dealing with knee tendinitis since the start of 2026 and played just two matches on clay, losing to Alexei Popyrin in Geneva and to Nishesh Basavareddy at Roland Garros. Fritz will begin his Stuttgart title defense against either Martin Landaluce or Pierre-Hugues Herbert before possibly meeting Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarterfinals and Bublik, Tommy Paul, or Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the semis. Paul vs. Mpetshi Perricard is a marquee first-round matchup.

Hot: Martin Landaluce

Cold: Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard

Quarterfinal predictions: Ben Shelton over Quentin Halys, Jiri Lehecka over Rinky Hijikata, Tommy Paul over Alexander Bublik, and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina over Taylor Fritz

Semifinals: Lehecka over Shelton and Paul over Davidovich Fokina

Final: Lehecka over Paul

Libema Open

Where: ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands
Surface: Grass
Prize money: 723,435 Euros
Points: 250

Top seed: Felix Auger-Aliassime
Defending champion: Gabriel Diallo

Draw analysis: Tallon Griekspoor and Botic van de Zandschulp carry Dutch tennis hopes for the most part these days, but one will be out of his home tournament in the first round. Yes, Griekspoor and Van de Zandschulp have to go head-to-head right off the bat. The draw, though, is otherwise a decent one for whoever advances in what is a much weaker bottom half of the bracket. Whoever wins a potential quarterfinal showdown between De Minaur and Ugo Humbert will be favored to reach the title match.

The other half is stacked, as the top-seeded Auger-Aliassime is joined by Medvedev, Denis Shapovalov, Marin Cilic, Hubert Hurkacz, and 2025 runner-up Zizou Bergs. Shapovalov and Cilic are going head-to-head in round one, while Auger-Aliassime awaits the winner of a contest between Hurkacz and Marton Fucsovics.

Hot: Felix Auger-Aliassime

Cold: Ugo Humbert, Denis Shapovalov, Adrian Mannarino, Gabriel Diallo

Quarterfinal predictions: Hubert Hurkacz over Zizou Bergs, Daniil Medvedev over Marin Cilic, Adrian Mannarino over Tallon Griekspoor, and Alex de Minaur over Ugo Humbert

Semifinals: Hurkacz over Medvedev and De Minaur over Mannarino

Final: Hurkacz over De Minaur
