Stoke Games has announced that its multiplayer tank shooter Tyr will finally enter Early Access this year after extensive community-focused playtesting.

The developer revealed all at the Second Wind Showcase with a new trailer highlighting Tyr’s tense moments of strategic positioning and earth-shaking tank fire in its futuristic tanks.

Tyr Trailer Announces Early Access Release Date

Tyr’s Early Access release window has been set for Summer 2026, but you can enlist in the Tyr Playtest set for May 2, 2026, if you want the chance to play it before then.

In Tyr, you will pilot both treaded and hover tanks across open battlefields, looking to take out the opposition. You can inflict specific damage to enemy tanks that can disable their movement or firing abilities.

On the defensive, you can position yourself so the tank’s strongest armor takes the brunt, and leave yourself fully mobile and deadly. So it’s a game about patience and precision rather than twitch reflexes.

There’s an upgrade tree to further modify your tank, and each vehicle comes with its own unique ability to combat the others. There’s cloaking tech, launchable drones, and even a tank that can take flight!

It looks like a nice mixture of typical tank action with an arcadey casualness. Hopefully, the long playtesting and Early Access do the trick and help the developer further refine this refreshing spin on the team shooter.
