Pakistan’s disappointing 2026 T20 World Cup campaign has reportedly been affected by problems inside their dressing room. The Fatima Sana-led side lost all four of their league matches and were eliminated from the tournament without a single win.

According to reports, there was a disagreement between captain Fatima and team mentor Wahab Riaz over disciplinary matters and team selection. The issue reportedly began before their match against Bangladesh when Sana raised concerns about senior player Aaliya Riaz’s husband staying in her hotel room. He was later asked to leave.

Reports also stated that Aaliya and her husband went out sightseeing despite a team practice session being scheduled. When picking the playing XI for the Bangladesh match, Sana reportedly wanted Aaliya to be benched for disciplinary reasons. However Wahab forced her inclusion.

Pakistan lost that match and Aaliya was unable to make a significant contribution. Reports also said that Sana blamed Wahab’s decision for not following necessary protocols.

The reports have also mentioned that Pakistan squad was divided into groups as there were some tension between senior players and the coaching staff. PCB has not officially confirmed the claims, but it’s concerning for the management as Pakistan ended the World Cup campaign without a win.

Pakistan will play their final league game of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup against Netherlands on June 27 in Bristol.
