Tessa Blanchard Says She Won’t Let People’s Opinions Define Her Wrestling Future

Tessa Blanchard Says She Won’t Let People’s Opinions Define Her Wrestling Future

Tessa Blanchard may be done with TNA, but she also sounds pretty done worrying about what other people think of her.

After explaining that she chose CMLL over TNA because TNA asked her to pick a side, Blanchard opened up on her YouTube channel about why she stayed in wrestling at all. She said there was a point where she had to decide between committing to the military through ROTC at UTSA or going back to wrestling. Then CMLL called.

“It was that moment when I was in ROTC at UTSA and I needed to make a decision—if I was going to contract with the United States military or if I was going to go back to wrestling. And that week was when CMLL called me to be a part of the Grand Prix, and it just felt like all the ducks were lining up in a way where that’s what I needed to do.”

That’s when Tessa got into the noise around her name. She didn’t directly mention the past racism allegations, but she clearly referenced people having opinions about her, including people she says don’t even know her.

“It was like God was telling me, or showing me, ‘Tessa, you still have unfinished business in wrestling. No matter what people say about you, no matter what people think about you—even the people that don’t even know you who have an opinion on you—you’re a wrestler, and this is what you’re meant to do, and you still have more to do.’ And I felt that.”

So, Tessa knows her name still comes with controversy. But she’s making it clear she doesn’t see that as the thing that gets to decide her future. Her latest TNA run is already over after she said the company made her choose between TNA and CMLL. Tessa picked Mexico, saying she had already reached the top in TNA and still has goals left in CMLL.

Bottom line, Tessa Blanchard says wrestling is still where she belongs. People can talk, judge, and bring up the past, but she believes she still has unfinished business — and right now, that business is in CMLL.
