This Week in Sports Trivia: June 18, 2026

Perhaps not many NBA observers thought the New York Knicks would win a championship this season, but owner James Dolan certainly did.

Whatever you might think of the guy, you have to give him credit for having the guts to fire Tom Thibodeau after a trip to the Eastern Conference finals, thinking he needed a new face — which turned out to be Mike Brown — to nudge his team over the hump.

Then, in early April, Dolan delivered a speech to the Knicks in which he essentially asked them to give him 10 weeks of the best basketball of their lives.

“This is not just a player thing. This is an entire organization thing,” he said. “We’ve been working at this for years to get ourselves to this point. And now 10 weeks. Can you do it? Can you focus for 10 weeks? If you do that, at the end of that week, we’re walking out of here with rings.”
