Jaron Ennis put in a star-making performance against Xander Zayas in Brooklyn on Saturday.
Ennis dismantled Zayas in seven rounds to capture the unified WBO and WBA super welterweight world champion at Barclays Center.
‘Boots’ looked on course for an early knockout after flooring Zayas in the opening round.
However, the Puerto Rican roared back, stunning Ennis in the third round with accurate combinations.
The Philadelphia man survived the onslaught and fired back with a thunderous uppercut which dropped the 23-year-old.
Zayas bravely got up, but his race was run in the seventh, with referee Harvey Dock halting the contest after another knockdown.
‘Boots’ became a two-division world champion and has a wealth of options at his disposal.
Vergil Ortiz Jr
A Ennis-Ortiz match-up remains one of the most mouthwatering showdowns in the sport.
The pair were in negotiations to face each other earlier this year, but talks broke down with Ortiz locked in a legal dispute with his promotional company, Golden Boy.
The ferocious 28-year-old is yet to win a world title, but brings hellacious power with an over 90% knockout ratio.

The Texan called for a clash with his American rival after his stoppage over Zayas.
“Yea I’m sleeping Jaron,” he posted on X.
“If I get him like that I promise you I get him out of there.”
Josh Kelly
Ennis could meet Matchroom stablemate and IBF super welterweight champion, Josh Kelly.
This could be the easier unification to make with both men signed with Eddie Hearn.

Kelly dethroned the avoided Bakhram Murtazaliev in January and the Olympian brings speed, reflexes and skill which could cause Ennis some problems.
Boots would undoubtedly be the favourite should the pair meet.
Sebastian Fundora
Sebastian Fundora could present his toughest test.
Standing at 6’ 5” with an 80 inch reach, the WBC champion would have a major size and reach advantage.

‘The Towering Inferno’ did suffer a seventh round knockout loss to Brian Mendoza, but has won four on the bounce since.
A unification with the 28-year-old is possibly harder to make with Fundora aligned with Premier Boxing Champions.
