CORK, Ireland — Undefeated Irish boxer Tommy Hyde is set for a long-awaited homecoming.
The rising super middleweight contender will headline a major boxing event on April 18 at The Parochial Hall, marking just the fourth time he has fought in Ireland as a professional.
The event is presented by NoWhere2Hyde Promotions and will stream live globally on TrillerTV.
A Global Journey Returns to Cork
Despite building his undefeated record around the world, Hyde has rarely had the chance to compete in front of his hometown fans.
The 26-year-old fighter, who owns a record of 14-0 with 9 knockouts, has fought eight times in the United States, along with appearances in Spain and Australia, while only stepping into the ring four times in Ireland — including one bout in Waterford.
Now the 6-foot-4 powerhouse returns to Cork for a 10-round super middleweight main event against an opponent to be announced.
“I am delighted to be fighting at home again,” Hyde said. “I have great experience fighting all over the world and it’s time to bring a big night of boxing to Cork.”
Hyde’s popularity in the region is undeniable. Each time he has fought at The Parochial Hall, the venue has sold out quickly, making ticket demand for this event equally high.
A Family Promotion with Championship Pedigree
The event is promoted by Hyde’s father and manager, Gary Hyde, a respected international boxing figure.
Through his career, Gary Hyde has guided multiple fighters to world titles, including Guillermo Rigondeaux, Youri Kalenga, Hassan N’Dam, and Simpiwe Vetyeka.
“I’ve promoted shows for 20 years and any show Tommy fights on is an easy promotion,” Gary Hyde commented. “He’s a pleasure to promote because he’s so popular. We plan on promoting three shows in Cork this year and by the end of 2026 Tommy will be closing in on titles.”
Olympic Silver Medalist John Joe Nevin Joins the Card
The April 18 event will also feature the return of Irish boxing standout John Joe Nevin.
Known as “The Mullingar Shuffler,” the undefeated super featherweight (18-0, 6 KOs) is a two-time Irish Olympian and won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Nevin will be fighting in Ireland for the first time since 2014, adding even more star power to the Cork event.
Rising Cork Talent Featured on the Undercard
Local fans will also get the chance to see two promising Cork fighters in action.
Welterweight prospect Ryan McCarthy will make his professional debut in a six-round bout. McCarthy is the 2024 Irish Elite Champion and also captured titles at the Celtic Box Cup in both 2019 and 2022.
Another rising star, Brian Long — nicknamed “Bone Breaker” — enters the card with a 3-0 record and two knockouts. Long, a 2024 Irish National Immediate Champion, is scheduled for a four-round bout.
“Nevin is one of the best Irish fighters of all time,” Gary Hyde noted. “And we are delighted to add Irish Elite Champion Ryan McCarthy and Irish National Champion Brian Long to Tommy’s undercard. Both fighters are from Cork; Ryan has been a club-mate of Tommy’s since they were 11 years old.”
With local stars, Olympic pedigree, and a headline homecoming, the April 18 card promises to deliver a memorable night of boxing for Cork fans.
