Tony Khan has commented on recent speculation regarding a potential purchase of TNA Wrestling, making it clear that such a move is not currently a priority.
During AEW’s media call ahead of Forbidden Door, Khan was asked by Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics about his level of interest in acquiring TNA if the promotion were to become available. When a possible price of $40 million was mentioned, Khan gave a direct and dismissive reaction.
“No,” Khan said with a laugh.
Tony Khan TNA purchase interest
After the initial response, Khan provided more context on his stance. He acknowledged that TNA Wrestling holds value as a brand, but emphasized that any deal would depend heavily on the financial terms. He noted that acquiring the company is not something he is actively pursuing and confirmed that no serious discussions have taken place.
Khan explained that while the idea could be appealing under the right circumstances, it is not something he is currently focused on. He compared it to other potential investments, suggesting that many opportunities could be interesting if the price makes sense.
Khan does have experience when it comes to acquiring wrestling promotions. Since launching AEW in 2019, he has already expanded his portfolio once by purchasing Ring of Honor in 2022. That acquisition remains active today, with ROH continuing to run events and weekly programming through the WatchROH streaming platform.
His willingness to explore major deals has also been evident on a larger scale. Earlier in 2023, court filings revealed that a Khan-backed group submitted a bid of approximately $6.9 billion to acquire WWE during its sale process. That effort ultimately fell short, with Endeavor completing the purchase instead.
For now, Khan’s comments suggest that while he recognizes the potential value in TNA Wrestling, there are no immediate plans to pursue a deal. Any future development would likely depend on pricing and strategic timing rather than active intent.
