Utami Hayashishita has confirmed that she will be leaving the Marigold promotion. The 27 year old is a top star in Japan and previously was in STARDOM. Utami is a former Marigold World Champion and is currently the longest reigning out of the three women to hold the top belt.
Utami made the announcement at Marigold’s last event on Saturday. She challenged the current Marigold World Champion Miku Aono in a losing effort. Aono spoke after the match.
“I never imagined that defending the title would end with me feeling like this. I don’t know what to say… I feel like I bear some responsibility myself for the decision Shiomi made…”
Utami’s final match in Marigold will be May 23.
