Toronto Blue Jays prospect R.J. Schreck named International League Player of the Week
Over six games last week with the Buffalo Bisons, Schreck went 15-for-25, good for a .600 average. The 25-year-old blasted two home runs and six doubles, driving in 16 runs throughout the week. On back-to-back days against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on May 6 and 7, Schreck drove in five runs, helping lead the Bisons to two straight wins.
For the season, Schreck is batting .233 with five home runs and 27 RBIs. The five home runs trail only Bisons third baseman Charles McAdoo, while the 27 runs batted in place him first on the club. Schreck has shown off a strong eye at the plate, highlighted by his .371 on-base percentage. To go along with his good eye, Schreck puts the bat on the ball, posting a 25:27 strikeout to walk ratio in 2026.
Last year was a big season for Schreck, getting his first taste of Triple-A baseball and giving the Blue Jays’ management a glimpse of a player who could become a factor at the big-league level one day.
Through 58 games with the Bisons in 2025, Schreck batted .242 with nine home runs and 33 RBIs, matching his home run total that he hit in Double-A with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
With the Blue Jays’ offence struggling over the majority of the 2026 season, Schreck has the opportunity to force management’s hand as they search for the best options to generate more consistent offence.
