Tottenham chiefs approve third signing after Senesi with player desperate to join

A close call with relegation has forced Tottenham Hotspur into decisive action ahead of the summer transfer window, with as many as three signings already lined up.

Romano drops major update on Tottenham and Senesi

To say it’s a huge summer for Tottenham would be a major understatement. They must get things right if Roberto De Zerbi is to guide them back towards European contention and away from the dropzone.

Those in North London are well aware of the challenge ahead of them, too. Club chief Peter Charrington penned a letter to supporters admitting that the last two seasons have been unacceptable – saying: “We did not have the right expertise in key roles. We did not build squads good enough to compete in the most demanding league in the world.

“Two 17th place finishes in a row is not acceptable, and we will not dress it up as anything other than falling well short of what this Club expects.”

Tottenham Hotspur are pressing on with their transfer plans after avoiding the drop.

With that failure in mind, however, those in North London have already commenced plans to welcome reinforcements this summer. With Andy Robertson already on the way, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Spurs have struck a deal to sign Marcos Senesi following the end of his contract at Bournemouth.

The Lilywhites have reportedly struck an agreement to welcome the defender in what is another significant step ahead of De Zerbi’s first full season in charge. But they’re not done there.

According to TeamTalk, Spurs chiefs have now approved the permanent signing of Joao Palhinha.

The midfielder could be the club’s third signing of the window already, with ENIC very busy in the early stages of the summer, and Palhinha is desperate to complete a permanent move.

“What I can say to you is I would really like to be here and I enjoy it a lot this season with this club even being a tough season.”

Why Palhinha has justified permanent Spurs move

News of a potential permanent move for Palhinha should be music to the ears of everyone at Tottenham. The midfielder took time to win fans over, but will forever have his place in history after scoring the goal to keep the club in the Premier League on the final day against Everton.

If that’s not enough to justify a permanent move, then not much will be. The Bayern Munich man proved to be one of the consistent names on the teamsheet even as the club welcomed and sacked Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor, before landing on De Zerbi.

All the current signs are suggesting that Palhinha will become a Spurs player on a permanent basis. It’s now up to the club to negotiate with Bayern to get the deal over the line.
