Toulouse Extent Dynasty and Americas Players Add a Top 14 Title

Toulouse are the 2026 Top 14 Champions. The club complete a 28-20 win over Montpellier to be crowned champions for another year. It was Toulouse’s fourth consecutive Top 14 title after having won in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

The 2026 title was won with an Argentine and a US player involved. Santiago Chocobares played inside center while David Ainu’u was Toulouse’s replacement loose head prop. Toulouse also has three further Argentines on their roster in Juan Cruz Mallía, Efraín Elías and Tomás Rapetti. Mallía was seriously injured in November while Rapetti has predominantly featured for espoirs in his inaugural season in France.

Montpellier had two Pumas of their own involved in the final. Domingo Miotti was the starting fly half. He kicked two penalties and converted then try scored his countryman, Justo Piccardo. Miotti also featured in the creation of Piccardo’s try.

 

Piccardo, Rapetti, Elías, Mallía and Chocobares all featured for Argentina in 2025. Miotti is yet to be selected during the Felipe Contepomi era. He, like the other Argentines in the Top 14 Final, may join Los Pumas’ roster which is presently in Córdoba preparing to face Scotland on July 04.

Toulouse has built the most successful and enduring dynasty in both French and European club rugby history. The club holds a record 25 Boucliers de Brennus. Saturday’s Top 14 Final win over Montpellier solidified their modern dynasty by capturing a historic four-in-a-row “back-to-back” title streak.

They are the undisputed kings of Europe with a record 6 Champions Cup titles (1996, 2003, 2005, 2010, 2021, and 2024).
