The San Antonio Spurs will be trying to close out the Portland Trail Blazers in round one of the Western Conference playoffs when they clash in Game 5 on Tuesday night in San Antonio. After splitting the first two contests, the Spurs went into Portland and took both games for a commanding 3-1 lead in this best-of-seven series.

Let’s dive into my Trail Blazers vs. Spurs Game 5 prediction.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. San Antonio Spurs odds

Money line: Trail Blazers +425 / Spurs -575
Spread: Trail Blazers +11.5 (-106) / Spurs -11.5 (-114)
Total: Over 216.5 (-110) / Under 216.5 (-110)

Portland Trail Blazers vs. San Antonio Spurs best bet: Spurs -11.5 (-114)

The Trail Blazers won Game 2, but don’t forget that Victor Wembanyama logged just 12 minutes and scored only five points before leaving with a concussion. Portland suddenly looked like it had a chance in this series, but that all changed when it could not even win Game 3 at home against a Wembanyama-less San Antonio squad and then the star Frenchman was cleared to play. Things went from bad to worse in Game 4 for the Blazers, who led by 17 points at halftime only to get outscored by 38 in the second half and lose 114-93. The underdogs cannot compete with the Spurs’ starting five, so they need more production from Jerami Grant off the bench. Grant (18.6 ppg in the regular season) is scoring only 10.0 ppg in this series on 35.1 percent shooting from the floor (30.8 percent from deep).

The Spurs, on the other hand, are looking like a well-oiled machine with their best player back. Wembanyama looked like his usual self in Game 4 this past weekend, delivering 27 points, 12 rebounds, seven blocks, and four steals. De’Aaron Fox added 28 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and two blocks in the comeback victory, while Stephon Castle contributed 16 points and eight assists. The Spurs simply have too much for the Blazers, as they have proven. They are 4-1 against the spread in the last five head-to-head matchups and 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall. Another win and cover should be expected.
