UFC 327 winner Paulo Costa grateful for ‘great conversation’ with Donald Trump

Paulo Costa is thrilled he had the opportunity to speak with US President Donald Trump following his latest UFC win.

Costa was back in action at Saturday’s UFC 327 event in Miami. He took on top light heavyweight contender Azamat Murzakanov on the main card. It was a tough challenge for the Brazilian, who was moving up from the middleweight division, but he rose to the occasion. After two back-and-forth rounds, he turned it on in round three, and finished his opponent with a barrage of kicks to the body, arms, and head.

Despite his ongoing war on Iran, Trump was front and centre for the action. After beating Murzakanov, Costa hopped the fence to chat with the president. Trump could be heard complimenting Costa’s good looks, and calling him a “hell of a fighter.”

Speaking on X on Monday morning, Costa sent a message to the president. He thanked him for what he called a “great conversation.”

The post included a screenshot of a comment Trump made about the UFC star on Truth Social

“Thank you very much Mr president @potus @donaldjtrumpjr @realdonaldtrump for the high praise words about me and the great conversation,” Costa wrote in his post. “Was a huge pleasure meeting and fight in front of your audience. GOD BLESS YOU.”

Costa is not the first fighter to get up close and personal with Trump. The President is a regular attendee at UFC events. When he’s in the building, it’s become something of a tradition for winners to jump out of the cage and speak with him — unless they want nothing to do with him, like this guy. Several fighters have also helped Trump on his campaign trails, including Henry Cejudo and Justin Gaethje.
