Position Summary:
Responsible for providing coaching and administrative assistance to the Head Coach. Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the Intercollegiate Athletics Department, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University of Houston, Big 12 Conference and the NCAA.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
- Three (3) years’ experience tennis coaching at the professional, collegiate, or academy/club level; or professional and/or high level collegiate tennis playing experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Duties: (not limited to)
- Assist the Head Coach to identify and recruit student athletes who are capable of competing successfully at the NCAA Division I level and who are capable of succeeding academically and graduating.
- Developing successful recruitment strategies, following up on prospective students, researching and targeting high schools and athletic camps as sources for potential student-athletes and visiting high schools and athletic camps to conduct student interviews.
- Assume the duties of the Head Coach in his or her absence.
- Determine individual and team strengths and develop strategies to maximize performance.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to NCAA and member conference rules and regulations.
- Demonstrates self-direction and motivation with the ability to work independently and work under pressure.

- The candidate must have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds and demonstrates dedication to the full academic and social development of student-athletes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Affiliation with Division I, highly successful elite women’s tennis program.
- Proven significant skill development of student-athletes both individually and collectively.
- Full understanding of providing a quality student-athlete experience.
- Coaching experience at the junior, collegiate or professional level
