Uthappa aids injured Misbah-ul-Haq in WCL 2024 final, earns praise

The World Championship of Legends ended on a thrilling note. The final match became extra special as the biggest rivalry occurred in the cricket world. In the final match, India Champions and Pakistan Champions locked horns. Fans enjoyed a thrilling encounter as both of their rivals locked horns with all their strength. But in between the match, Robin Uthappa’s gesture to the injured Misbah ul Haq is winning hearts. 

Missbah’s Injury and Uthappa’s Gesture: 

The grand finale stage of the World Championship of Legends was decked up with the India Champions vs Pakistan Champions match. After having an exciting tournament, both teams have faced each other. Fans across the globe enjoyed the thrill of the biggest rivalry of cricket. Along with that, they relived the nostalgia as the former players appeared in this face-off. 

In this high-voltage clash, Robin Uthappa’s gesture to Pakistani player Misbah ul Haq grabbed the limelight. In the 17th over of Pakistan’s innings, Misbah-ul-Haq, a veteran batter, injured his leg and appeared to be in pain. He was batting for Pakistan Champions against India Champions and managed to score 18 runs off 15 balls before the injury forced him to retire hurt.

 During this challenging moment, Robin Uthappa, displaying true sportsmanship, stepped away from his wicketkeeping duties to assist Misbah. Uthappa offered his shoulder to help Misbah off the field, showcasing a gesture of empathy and support that transcended the competitive nature of the match.

India Champions’ Triumph Over Pakistan Champions: 

Fans were filled with nostalgia as they witnessed legendary players in action during the World Championship of Legends. Pakistan chose to bat first and posted a competitive total of 156 runs for 6 wickets. The Indian bowlers, led by Anureet Singh who took three wickets, effectively controlled Pakistan’s scoring rate throughout the innings.

India’s chase started with a few setbacks as openers Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu added 34 runs before Aamer Yamin dismissed both Uthappa and Suresh Raina, leaving India struggling at 38/2. Rayudu and Gurkeerat Singh Mann then steadied the innings with a crucial partnership of 60 runs. Rayudu was the standout performer, scoring a quickfire 50 off just 30 balls, which included two sixes and five boundaries. However, Saeed Ajmal’s dismissal of Rayudu in the 12th over and Shoaib Malik removing Gurkeerat for 34 off 33 balls left India at 108/4.

Yusuf Pathan and Yuvraj Singh then took charge, revitalizing India’s innings with a crucial partnership of 42 runs in just 5.4 overs. Pathan played aggressively, scoring 30 runs off 16 balls with three sixes, while Yuvraj played a steadier innings, remaining unbeaten on 15 off 22 balls. Despite Wahab Riaz dismissing Yusuf in the 19th over, India needed only seven runs from the last 10 balls. Yuvraj and Irfan Pathan successfully guided India to victory, with Irfan hitting the winning boundary off Sohail Tanvir on the first ball of the final over.
