Sean Morley, better known to wrestling fans as Val Venis, has once again taken aim at WWE over the company’s public support of the LGBTQ+ community, arguing that its stance will ultimately damage the brand and hurt its bottom line.
The former WWE Superstar shared his latest criticism on social media, claiming that WWE’s continued support of LGBTQ+ initiatives would negatively impact the company’s business. It marks the latest in a series of similar comments Morley has made about WWE’s diversity and inclusion efforts in recent years.
Despite Morley’s claims, WWE’s financial performance has largely trended in the opposite direction. Over the past two decades, the company has reported year-over-year second-quarter revenue growth in nearly every year, with notable exceptions during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and one other isolated year. Throughout that period, WWE has continued to expand through record-setting media rights agreements, premium live event partnerships, sponsorship deals, and international growth.
WWE’s support of the LGBTQ+ community is far from new. In 2011, the company partnered with GLAAD, becoming one of the first major sports entertainment organizations to work directly with the LGBTQ+ advocacy group. Beginning in 2014, WWE further strengthened that commitment by featuring Superstars in campaigns centered on diversity, inclusion, and anti-bullying, with many performers participating in Pride Month initiatives and public awareness campaigns over the years.
This is also not the first time Morley has publicly criticized WWE’s position.
In 2025, he targeted WWE Superstar Chelsea Green after she expressed support for transgender people on social media. Morley quote-posted Green’s comments, prompting Green to respond publicly. Their exchange sparked significant discussion among wrestling fans online. Morley has also been targeting Michelle Obama in recent days, accusing her of being a man with no credible evidence.
