Timeless Choices

Velo Orange puts a ton of effort into making their timeless frames look the part. A color that might look good on a color swatch and computer screen might look terrible with real world light and beausage. Making a color pop, with the right amount of metallic and appropriate level of polish requires a lot of fore thought. Choosing small details like rack mounts, bottle bosses, and cable routing can make or break the experience for the rider. Velo Orange recently updated many of their frames with these thoughtful details.

Chessie – Shoreline Sand

The Chessie, Velo Orange’s multi surface bike, has been updated with some meaningful features and a new color. It’s a do everything bike, great four touring or unloaded riding, and has this lovely do everything sand color to match the vibe. To increase the do everything additude, a number of details have been added. There is a third set of bottle bosses on the underside of the downtube to carry more water or accessory bag. A dedicated rear rack mount has been added directly to the monostay; it is a simple update that adds a huge added possibility.

Lastly, the cable routing has been updated with polished, bolt-on alumnium cable clips along the downtube. These are more secure, eliminate slip, and offer a cleaner aesthetic that then outgoing clamshell style guides. Note that the bottle cage mounts double as a cable clip point, complete with a standoff so your housing doesn’t get pinched.

Low Kicker – Red Velvet

The Low Kicker has been a mainstay of Velo Orange’s lineup for a while, and don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere. The Low Kicker spirit remains. Velo Orange listened to riders and made the seattube shorter, increasing the number of people it will fit. The overall length and fit of the bike remains roughly the same. Bottle bosses have also been added to the top tube to accommodate another water bottle, top tube bag, or chapstick.

The Red Velvet paint schemes was inspired after Igor of Velo Orange was impressed by the color of an unimpressive SUV in the parking lot of a hardware store. He pulled out a swatch booklet right there in the car park and found the best match.

Polyvalent – Hedgerow Green

The Polyvalent is one of Velo Orange’s most recognizable frames. The straight lines and timeless aesthetics are as classic today as they will be in twenty years. The Polyvalent is their quintessential jack-of-all-trades bike. It lives in a venn diagram of commuter, tourer, weekend gravel crusher, and/or dressed up retro-modern whip. To compliment the classic lines, the updated frame is finished in Hedgerow Green that looks as good on this bike as it does on a classic British racecar.

Rando – Bonfire Fade and Night Sky

The Rando has been refreshed with two new paint schemes. Bonfire Fade is a head turning red and yellow while Night Sky offers a more stealthy black finish. This bike also gets some nice, meaningful additions per feedback from riders. There are now  downtube bottle bosses, front rack mounts, and rear rack mounts.

All of these updated frames are available right now from Velo Orange.
