The veteran full-back, with whom Álvaro Arbeloa publicly denied having had any falling-out during a press conference, once again failed to get any minutes against Betis. Cameras picked up both a comment and a hand gesture from Carvajal aimed at what he felt was a slow defensive recovery by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Movistar Plus+ cameras captured the moment when Dani Carvajal appeared to criticize Tristan Alexander-Arnold’s slow defensive tracking back – the player who has taken his place at right-back.
Carvajal makes a gesture with his fingers to suggest that Alexander-Arnold is walking back during the defensive transition. Carvajal remained seated on the bench alongside Gonzalo and Asencio.

On social media, Álvaro Arbeloa’s look toward Dani Carvajal just before halftime at La Cartuja drew plenty of attention. Carvajal, Mastantuono, Asencio, and Gonzalo were heading toward the tunnel when the referee awarded a foul and slightly extended stoppage time.
While some Real Madrid players changed their minds and stayed on the bench, the veteran full-back continued on his way and headed off early, under Arbeloa’s watchful eye.
