Vince Russo Accuses Nick Khan of Lying About WWE’s WrestleMania 40 Plans

Vince Russo isn’t buying Nick Khan’s claim that WWE never changed course with Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and The Rock.

While speaking on The Coach and Bro Show, Russo called out Khan after the WWE President said the WrestleMania 40 plan “never changed” because of social media backlash. Russo said he doesn’t understand why Khan is still talking about something from two years ago or why he is doing so many public interviews.

“I listen coach, there’s just so much with that company I don’t get. It’s it’s not rational anymore because first of all, and I’ve said this a million times, why is Nick Khan doing interviews? When when did Nick Khan become one of the boys? When did Nick Khan become a celebrity?”

Russo then pointed to a Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns segment from that time, saying Cody directly told Roman he would take everything from him except the title. Russo claimed that line made it obvious WWE’s original plan involved The Rock taking the championship while Cody went after the Bloodline family power.

“Number three, and coach I clearly remember guys during that time there was an inring between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodess and Cody said to Roman Reigns, ‘I’m going to take everything from you except your title.’”

Russo said anyone could go back and watch the segment, arguing that Khan’s version does not line up with what was presented on television: “So I don’t know. I don’t know what Nick Khan is doing. Again, anybody can go back and watch it. There was clearly a change in direction.”

Jonathan Coachman then suggested Khan’s comments may be about ego, saying he believes Khan wants people to view him as the man running WWE creatively and strategically.

“I really believe, Vince, that his ego wants us to believe that he’s the guy that runs WWE and not Vince McMahon. That he’s the guy that makes these decisions and not Vince McMahon. He’s basically calling The Rock a liar.”

Vince Russo agreed with Jonathan Coachman’s broader point and said Khan’s public comments make WWE’s leadership look worse every time, arguing that they simply do not have any clue whatsoever.

“Coach, really, I’m lost for words for this one because I am starting to see more and more and more. You have a lot of people up top at the WWE that just don’t have a clue, man. They just don’t have a clue. And every time they open up their mouths and do something like this, it becomes more and more obvious.”

Russo’s issue is simple: he believes WWE clearly changed direction during the Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and The Rock WrestleMania 40 saga, no matter what Khan says now. Khan insists the plan always ended the way WWE wanted, but Russo and Coachman think the company is rewriting history.
