India Women’s team’s young spinner Vaishnavi Sharma missed out on the final squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Speaking about that omission at a recent event in New Delhi, Vaishnavi sounded positive despite the snub.

She said: “I believe that it’s okay if it hasn’t happened yet, there’s no problem. It’s all part of God’s plan. I still have a lot to learn, and there’s plenty of cricket ahead of me. It’s just the beginning, and there’s so much more experience to gain. Whatever happens will be for the best.”

Vaishnavi further added how she wants to work on identifying her weaknesses and strengths.

“Right now, my goal is to focus on my mental space, finding some peace, staying calm, and understanding myself better. I want to work on identifying my weaknesses and strengths, and learn as much as I can about myself,” she said.

After playing a major role in India Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup triumph in 2025, she excelled in the domestic season. Unfortunately, she went unsold in the WPL auction, but later Mumbai Indians (MI) signed her as an injury replacement for G Kamalini during the 2026 edition of the tournament.

She made her international debut in December 2025 against Sri Lanka. Before missing out on the recently concluded five-match T20I series in South Africa against the Proteas Women, Vaishnavi played five T20Is and one ODI.
