After two hugely successful seasons, the World Championship of Legends (WCL) has confirmed that Season 3 will take place in October 2026, with the tournament preparing for its biggest edition yet.
Some rivalries in cricket never fade — they simply wait for the right stage to return. WCL, now regarded as the world’s second most-watched cricket league, is set to once again bring back some of the sport’s most iconic contests.
What separates WCL from exhibition-style cricket is the authenticity of its rivalries. India vs Pakistan features players who actually experienced those battles firsthand. Australia vs England revives Ashes memories with cricketers who shaped those contests, while West Indies vs South Africa recreates clashes defined by power and intensity.
The first two seasons highlighted the league’s growing popularity. India-Pakistan encounters generated global trends for days, Ashes fixtures carried genuine competitiveness, and the battles between Caribbean flair and South African discipline became some of the year’s most-followed cricket contests. Rather than creating rivalries, WCL has provided a platform for them to thrive again.
A major reason behind the league’s success has been its star-studded lineup. Across the opening two seasons, fans watched legends such as AB de Villiers, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Hashim Amla, Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, and Eoin Morgan return to the field and relive the moments that made them global icons.
Season 2 also delivered impressive numbers, attracting 423 million global viewers and generating 1.2 billion digital impressions.
The same format will continue in Season 3, featuring seven national teams:
- India Champions
- Pakistan Champions
- England Champions
- Australia Champions
- South Africa Champions
- West Indies Champions
- Bangladesh Champions (new addition for Season 3)
While squads are yet to be officially announced, discussions around the league indicate that several new high-profile names could join the tournament this season.
WCL Founder and CEO Harshit Tomar said: “When we launched WCL, our vision was to give fans a tournament that goes beyond cricket — a celebration of the icons who shaped the game. In just two seasons, WCL has grown into the world’s second most-watched cricket league, and Season 3 is going to take that legacy to an entirely new level.”
Co-owner Ajay Devgn added: “WCL is more than just a cricket league – it is emotion, nostalgia and entertainment coming together on one platform. Looking forward to Season 3, it’s going to be our boldest season yet.”
Details regarding squads, fixtures, venues, and broadcast partnerships will be announced gradually over the coming months, with expectations already building around another landmark season.
