What is Bruno Fernandes’s view on how assists are measured?

Fernandes agrees that assists should not be registered for own goals, such as when his corner went in off via James Hill during the recent 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, and is also sceptical about whether pre-assists will ever gain wider attention.

Basically, the pass before the assist has started to be analysed a little more, referencing the input earlier in decisive moves for goals, it is another field where he naturally excels in.

However, our no.8 said: “I have seen some players talking about that but, come on, let’s not do the pre-assists!

“The assist is enough. Assisting a goal, which is counting all the time. Let’s count that one. I don’t think we’re going to have players asking for a trophy for pre-assists, secondary chances created!”
