Decisions in the Carolina Hurricanes net
The Fourth Period: Does Carolina Hurricanes pending UFA goaltender Frederik Andersen remain in their plans, or do they go with a Brandon Bussi and Pyotr Kochetkov tandem?

Ryan Paton: “Carolina Hurricanes, as mentioned, everybody knows they won the Stanley Cup. Had a great regular season, and a fantastic four-round run to Hoist Lord Stanley. Pretty much the full team under contract for next season.
One, though, who’s a UFA is Freddie Andersen. Aaron, let’s get to you with this one. Brandon Bussi, what a great story he was those last few games for Carolina. With him there with a healthy (Pyotr) Kochetkov . Is there any room left for Anderson in Carolina?”
Toronto Maple Leafs Rumors: Radko Gudas and Morgan Rielly
Ward: “Well, I think there’s some components of this that we have to consider. There’s a sentimentality of what Freddie went through, obviously with losing his agent. There’s a sentimentality of the connection between the organization, the fans, and Freddie Anderson for what he did for them in the playoffs.
So, I will tell you that that on a normal stage exists, but not with the Carolina Hurricanes. They’re very much a business-oriented group. They’re going to look at the best they can get for the for the price.
I don’t think the pro sports is a meat market, and I think in this capacity you’re going to look at this and say if Freddie wants to take a favorable, and I mean favorable to the organization, to the city contract, I’m sure they’d open it up.
In terms of confidence. Do I believe that could Kochetkov is a viable option? I don’t think he’s captured the confidence this organization over time. He’s been here long enough where he could have seized the opportunity, and he has not. Brendan Bussi clearly a savior coming in at the stage he did in the playoffs, played as well as he did, but he did have that tail off towards the end of the regular season, allowing Freddie Anderson to take the opportunity to take the net.
NHL Rumors: Mavrik Bourque, Jason Robertson, Mason McTavish, and the Buffalo Sabres
So I think it comes down to is Freddie in a position with new guidance to maybe look at the perspective of what can he do to be in an ideal situation. Is he more about being in an environment that you know he’s going to thrive in, and he’s accustomed to and familiar with, or is he going to test the market?
Because we all know that Tolski and Dundon concern themselves very much about the bottom dollar and less about team structure.”
