Elated Sox fans celebrating at Rate Field on Sunday were surely applauding the minor league affiliate sweep, right? Right? Alright, it was probably more the Crosstown series-winning walk-off home run, but the South Siders’ organizational counterparts were all victorious today, too.
At Triple-A, Duncan Davitt turned in a nice outing while his lineup exploded for 15 runs, with shortstop going 4-for-5 and Rikuu Nishida reaching five times, plus Braden Montgomery getting on base twice. The Double-A Barons eked out a win with Anthony DePino notching two hits and Jake Palisch yielding just two earned runs over 5.2 innings thrown.
Further down the farm, Caleb Bonemer emerged from a mini-slump for High-A Winston-Salem with a dinger while Arxy Hernandez went yard too. Low-A Kannapolis cruised to a 9-3 triumph in a game that saw Billy Carlson double twice and Javier Mogollon reach base three times.
