Matt Riddle shocked fans with a totally different look, but it turns out there was a simple reason behind the big change. The former WWE star cut off his signature long hair, and according to a new update, he was ready to start over because keeping the purple in it had become too much of a pain.
Riddle showed off the fresh cut on Instagram after wrestling in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was a major switch from the longer hair fans have associated with the “Original Bro” for years, and the reaction came fast. Riddle posted the new look and made it clear he was feeling good after another night in the ring.
“New Haircut and another great night of wrestling.”
That alone got fans talking, but Fightful Select later added more context on why Riddle decided to chop it off. According to the update, Riddle told them at MLW last week that maintaining the purple in his hair was getting difficult, so he wanted a reset.
“Matt Riddle cut his hair. Huge news. He told us at MLW last week it was getting hard to maintain the purple in it and he wanted to start over.”
So there it is. Riddle did not just wake up and randomly decide to ditch one of his most recognizable features. The purple was becoming harder to maintain, and he wanted a clean start.
That makes sense, especially with Riddle staying busy after his WWE departure. He has remained active on the independent scene and continues to work shows, so dealing with constant hair maintenance probably was not something he wanted to keep messing with.
