Sweden vs Tunisia is the final game of Day 4 of the 2026 World Cup. The match is being played in Monterrey Stadium in Nuevo Leon, Monterrey, Mexico.

Both teams are in Group F and are playing after Japan, and the Netherlands drew 2-2 earlier today. Sweden took the lead in the 7th minute through an incredible strike from their midfielder, Yasin Ayari.

This is the 22-year-old’s first World Cup match for Sweden, and the Brighton star is one of the faces of this Swedish national team.

Many were impressed by his goal against Tunisia, but they were shocked to see his reaction after scoring his first goal in a World Cup.

After scoring his goal, Ayari did not celebrate and put his hands up to apologize. Players at the club level sometimes do this to apologize for scoring against their former clubs.

In this case, Ayari is not from Tunisia and has never played for the Tunisia senior national team or at the youth level.

Does Yasin Ayari Have Tunisian Roots?

Yasin Ayari was born in Solna, Sweden, and started his career playing for Swedish club AIK Fotboll.

Despite being born in Sweden, Aari does have Tunisian roots. His parents are from Tunisia and Morocco, which is why he chose not to celebrate the goal against Tunisia.

Ayari played his first game for the Swedish national team in 2023 and, since then, has earned more call-ups and earned his call-up for the Sweden World Cup roster this year.
