Speaking about Shikhar’s participation in IPL 2025 there is a chance that Shikhar Dhawan may also take part in the upcoming season, much like Dhoni did after retiring from international and domestic cricket, by continuing to participate in the IPL for a few more seasons.
However, in the last season, Shikhar Dhawan led the Punjab Kings but had to withdraw from the tournament because of an injury after featuring in a few matches. As a result, Sam Curran stepped in to assume the captaincy of the Punjab Kings.
During the interview, Shikhar Dhawan said – “Unfortunately, I got injured this IPL season and could not play for Punjab except for 4-5 matches. It takes time to recover. I am still healing. I have not recovered 100 percent yet,”
With the IPL mega auction approaching, franchises face the difficulty of limited player retention options. Punjab might consider retaining Shikhar Dhawan, especially after his full recovery from injury. If he stays with the team, there is a possibility of him being named the captain. However, if Punjab chooses not to retain him, he could potentially become part of another franchise as well.
