WrestleMania 2028 Location, More Releases Expected, Stephanie Vaquer Injured

In our latest WWE rumor roundup, we have big updates on Stephanie Vaquer’s reported injury, a possible WrestleMania 44 location, the latest on those WWE Superstar releases, and more.

There’s a lot of uncertainty in WWE following what proved to be an unpredictable couple of weeks for the company, either side of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

With so many questions being raised about Triple H’s role in WWE Creative and 25 talent releases last Friday, it won’t shock you to learn that those topics dominate our latest WWE rumor roundup. We also have news on Kairi Sane and a possible location for WrestleMania 44 in 2028.

You can read all these latest WWE rumors below, but be warned of possible spoilers

  • During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez said that there was a lot of talk about Triple H’s status in WWE heading into WrestleMania 42 because of how much the show was being changed in the lead-up to the event. The biggest concern was how much creative control he actually has, though his recent contract extension was meant to show he has TKO’s full backing.

  • It’s also been reported that Stephanie Vaquer’s injury—first mentioned during RAW on Monday—is legitimate, with Michael Cole sharing an accurate diagnosis on commentary. It’s not clear when the injury happened, but it seemingly wasn’t before WrestleMania (we also don’t know how long she’ll be on the sidelines for).

  • Alvarez added that Andre Chase was hired by WWE to help other wrestlers in NXT learn, but there was “never any intention of calling him up to the main roster.” He was among last week’s 25 talent releases.
  • He’s also heard that Zoey Stark had been cleared to compete when she was fired; she just wasn’t being used on TV. There may be further releases coming on the WWE developmental side.
  • Fightful Select reports that Santos Escobar is eyeing a return to CMLL after being let go by WWE.

  • Dave Meltzer has shared his belief that part of the reason Kairi Sane was cut by WWE is that she’s eager to return to Japan. That’s seemingly been disputed by Pirate Princess in a recent X post:

  • PW Insider says WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles was at the WWE Performance Center earlier this week.

  • While Night of Champions remains scheduled for June 27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, WWE President Nick Khan has said that the show will only take place if the company is sure it’s safe to do so. RAW and SmackDown are not expected to take place in the country, though we don’t currently know where those shows will be held.
  • Khan has also teased plans for WrestleMania 44 in 2028. “Wait until you hear the announcement on where we’re going to be for WrestleMania in 2028,” he recently told staff in a town hall. This has led to familiar rumblings that the show will take place in London, England.
